Field Service Technician – Travel Nationwide
Location: Based in Milwaukee, WI — will consider candidates in Chicago, IL or Northern Indiana
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay: $30-35/hr
About the Role
This isn’t a “deep inside the engine” or “switchgear-only” service role — it’s for a versatile, hands-on technician who can handle mechanical fit-up, sheet-metal adjustments, light electrical work, and on-site problem solving.
You’ll work on generator enclosures, weatherproof housings, and fuel tank enclosures, performing field fit and finish, sealing, alignment, and correcting installation issues done by others. If you can read a drawing, pick up tools, and make things right both functionally and cosmetically — this could be your ideal job.
We’re looking for a true all-around problem solver who can:
- Make mechanical adjustments and repairs
- Perform light electrical work (terminations, conduit, control wiring, lighting)
- Troubleshoot on-site issues and fix them correctly the first time

Compensation and Hours

What You’ll Do
- Travel to customer sites across the USA (occasional Canada) to correct and finalize installations
- Work on generator enclosures, housings, and fuel tank assemblies — including sealing, alignment, and cosmetic finishing
- Perform light electrical tasks such as wiring terminations, conduit runs, lighting, and control wiring
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues caused by installation errors
- Use hand and power tools for fabrication adjustments and repairs
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers
- Maintain accurate service records
Travel & Schedule
- Travel Monday–Friday (occasional Sunday fly-outs)
- All travel expenses covered — company provides comfortable Airbnb lodging with full amenities
- Home time prioritized whenever possible
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, fabrication, or maintenance, with light electrical skills (terminations, conduit, wiring)
- Strong troubleshooting ability
- Comfort with sheet-metal work, alignment, sealing, and cosmetic/functional fit-up
- Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams
- Valid driver’s license
- Professional appearance and customer-service skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with generator enclosures or fuel system installations
- Basic knowledge of weatherproofing and control systems
